Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). In her early years she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's goal was to be an actor. At the age of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons for acting, singing as well as dancing. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theater instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of 2001. Critics were impressed with the movie and its performances. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards for the movie.
